      A native Staten Islander, Dr. David Purow proceeded from Stuyvesant High School to Brown University where he received an honors degree in Classics (studying ancient Greek) while preparing for medical school.  Dr. David Purow graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 1997.  He moved back north to further his training as an intern and resident at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.  He served as an assistant Chief resident during his final year.   Dr. Purow then stayed at Cornell for his gastroenterolgy fellowship, where he developed a particular interest in liver disease.  A further interest in gastroenterointestinal malignancies was fueled by a large amount of time spent at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center during his training.
    
     Dr. Purow is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterology Associations.  He maintains an avid interest in all areas of gastroenterology and liver disease and is trained in advanced endoscopic procedures, including therapeeutic endoscopic retrogrqade cholangiopancreatography. 

     During his free time, Dr. Purow's life revolves around his wife and their twins.  Dr. Purow is also an avid sports fan, enjoying raquetball and fantasy baseball and football.
